Microsoft ships a Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server, but by default only Microsoft clients such as Copilot Studio and VS Code may connect. Getting Claude or ChatGPT in, safely, is an Entra ID and security role project. That is the part we do.

What already exists for Microsoft Dynamics 365

Microsoft documents the Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server for finance and operations apps. It uses the same security model as the existing API framework, and by default only Microsoft clients (Copilot Studio, VS Code, Microsoft Cowork, Finance Agent) are allowed. Other clients must be registered in Microsoft Entra ID and added to the allowed list. A separate ERP Analytics MCP server (preview) covers Business performance analytics.
- Covers: data operations and business logic in Finance and Supply Chain Management, filtered by the user's security role.
- Requires: admin work to allow Claude or ChatGPT as clients.
- Does not cover: Dynamics 365 Business Central or Dataverse-based apps in the same server; we confirm the right endpoint for your product during scoping.

Design security roles for each team that will connect.
Add a custom MCP layer with focused tools if the dynamic server is too broad.
Test in Claude and ChatGPT, then move to production with change control.
