What already exists for SharePoint and OneDrive
Checked against vendor and platform sources on October 23, 2026. If an official option covers your need, use it.
Anthropic's Microsoft 365 connector lets Claude search and act on SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams with the user's own permissions. It is available on all Claude plans, needs a Microsoft Entra Global Administrator to grant tenant consent, and write tools are admin-controlled. There is no standalone SharePoint connector in Claude's directory.
- Covers: delegated search and analysis across everything the user can open in Microsoft 365.
- Scope: it searches tenant-wide, so restricting it to a few sites is not its design.
- Does not cover: your document metadata model, required fields on filing, or ChatGPT on the same rules.

Using the Sites.Selected permission, a custom connector can reach named sites only, instead of every library a user can open.
Metadata, not just keywords
Contract type, counterparty, status, and expiry live in columns. Tools that filter on them answer far better than full-text search alone.

Register the app in Entra ID and get the minimum permissions approved.
Build search and retrieve tools that return titles, links, and short excerpts.
Add filing tools with required metadata, behind confirmation.
